I’ve just released version 1.2.1 and I have some goodies for you! This update fixes some persistent problems that you have reported and includes some much desired improvements. Specifically, the job board had some problems that have now been resolved.
New Ship Dedicated to Mining
Also added is a new, shiny dedicated mining ship, called the Copperhead. What makes it special is its unique mining yield bonus of 65%, which means you can get a ton of ore from a single asteroid. On top of that, there is a significant bonus to cargo compressors, which is helpful for obvious reasons. It also looks awesome!
This new ship is going to be great for the veteran miner, as its price is a little prohibitive for beginners. Nevertheless, I hope you will enjoy using it as I did making it!
Now that Feline Strike has been released on Windows 10 desktop and mobile, I am turning my attention to developing the Android version.
Prepping the Android Version
Thanks to the folks at Xamarin, porting to Android will not be enormously painful. For those of you who don’t know Xamarin is a cross-platform development solution that uses C# and the Microsoft .NET framework. This allows app developers like myself to write code only once, and be able to reuse most of it.
In any event, the Android version should be available within the next two months, and I will like launch it side-by-side with the Windows 10 Mobile version.
What Changes Need to Be Made?
The vast majority of work will be to make sure all of the features work properly on the Android platform. Specifically, anything that requires interfacing with the low-level APIs of the OS. This would include gamesaves, music, and especially graphical assets like models and textures.
Another issue to consider is device performance. First off, Feline Strike will only be available on Android version 4.4 and higher, so this will cut out a lot of low-end devices on which performance could be a major problem.
Hope that doesn’t disappoint any of you who have cheaper devices, but I will not be restricting it to any technical requirements, just the OS version. So, I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt so if you want to try, go right ahead!
Feline Strike is now available on Windows 10! Click on the image below to download. For a limited time, you can now download Feline Strike for just $1.99, over 60% off! This discount ends on Friday, so buy it now! I hope you enjoy it!
If you run across any problems or have any features to suggest, feel free to send some feedback so I can fix or improve it.
After three years of off and on development, I am now within a week of releasing Feline Strike. The game will become available for download on the Windows Store for both desktop and mobile on Monday the 18th of January.
All of the updates and features that I have written about will be included, and more features will be developed in the next month or so, to be released as soon as possible. I sincerely hope that you will enjoy this game and give me some good ratings in the store!
I know many of you are Android users, and you will not have to wait too long. I am hoping for a mid-March release for Android, supporting version 4.3 and above. Feline Strike is being developed with the MonoGame engine, an open-source implementation of XNA. This means that I will need to start testing the Android version as quickly as possible to stay on schedule. Once both the Windows and Android versions are stable, you can expect for features to be release symmetrically.
